Fibonacci Steel Sculpture

Fibonacci is an 11.5" x 13" steel sculpture by Matthew DiBattista constructed from 1/2" x 1/8" steel flat bar. The Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers (0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, etc) where each number is the sum of the two precediing numbers. This piece utilizes a series of inset triangles arranged in this sequence. 

The Fibonacci sequence's significance lies in its ubiquitous appearance in nature, mathematics, art, and finance, representing efficient growth patterns, harmony, the divine blueprint of creation, and interconnectedness through its connection to the Golden Ratio. It's found in spiral arrangements in plants (sunflowers, pinecones), shells (the nautilus), and galaxies, and is used in algorithms, computer science, and stock market analysis for its predictive properties.
