Ascend Steel Sculpture

Ascend is a 32" x 24" sculpture by Matt DiBattista constructed of 3/4" x 1/8" steel flat bar and segmented steel pipe. The base pyramid is a perspective-based interpretation of the Giza Pyramid, which is, in turn, based on the Golden Ratio. Use of this ratio by the Egyptians is said to suggest an advanced ancient knowledge of mathematics and geometry beyond simple function. Golden Ratio pyramids signify connection to cosmic harmony, natural beauty and divine order. 

The series of circles in this piece represent the integration and ascension of inner child and adult. At the base of the pyramid is child. The second, larger circle represents the unintegrated adult. As the circles ascend the integration begins, initially in various stages of imperfection before reaching ascension via complete integration.

Inner child integration is said to be pivotal in healing past wounds, achieving emotional wellness and unlocking authentic joy, creativity, and resilience. This connection with an individual's youthful self's needs, emotions, and potential transforms reactive patterns into mindful responses for healthier adult life and relationships.
